Biography

Ashley N. Wolff was born on November 13th, 1992 in New Jersey.   She's an artist who creates paintings & Illustrations. She enjoys using multiple mediums such as oil paint, gauche, acrylic, ink, graphite, charcoal, pastel, colored pencil, etc. Her niche is creating portraits with the style of impressionistic realism. She also enjoys creating illustrations in her free time with ink drawings. All of her life she was drawn to art, because it's a good way to communicate through images. It's also a good way to share what she envisions & how she creates it in her style.

When Ashley was a child, she always made doodles and drawings.  While she was watching a cartoon show called "Pokemon", she was quite interested and determined to draw that cartoon's style; anime.  She eventually grasped and learned the art of anime.  Over the years, she eventually improved in her anime drawings and explored in other art areas.  At school, her drawings really impressed her classmates and teachers, which motivated her to do more and become better.

Sometime during middle school and high school, Ashley was known to do great artwork, and to be quiet and shy.  She took a few art classes to learn and strengthen her talent and to learn herself more with what type of art she is gravitating more towards and finding her style.  She participated in a lot of art activities.  She eventually went to college. Her mind was set on the major of Fine Arts and hoping to make art as her career.

       Artist's Statement

I view my work to be something that speaks to the viewers without using any words. I use art as my only means in communication, so I can represent what I see and feel through a clear visual. I can see the beauty in every object, person, and thing. I hope to bring out thoughts and emotions to the viewers as much as I do through my art. I do my best to recreate that image that I see through plenty of details in  color, value, form, ect. I capture passion, beauty, feeling, mood, story, etc. by striving to make my work as realistic as I possibly can. Although I find every media enjoyable to work with, what really interests me the most is drawing and painting. In those two categories, I often work with a great deal of various mediums.

I believe that drawing is involved in almost all mediums and in the different projects that I have to do. From quick thumbnails to get ideas or from just outlining where the image would be placed in a project that is being started. Either on paper, wood, clay, computer, etc. I often make images either well blended to make the image look smooth, or leave it rough to give the image more life to it based on the texture to give it movement or a fresh look. I aim for creating the mood, feeling, story, personality, etc. By that, I just use shading, gestures, cross hatching. I want to prove on how much skill I have with my drawings by how well I execute it. I always create portraits, animals, still life, etc. It is easy for me to hand draw something directly from what I see. I use references and real life objects to get the image I need to create what I believe to be representation of a thought and/or a feeling. I hope that the viewers can look at my work and not just see an image, but look beyond on what they see at first glance.
